Census as living in his father's residence as Wm. D. Kennard, 14 yr. old, at school, born in Md. --------------------------------------------------- In the 1878 Baltimore City Directory, there's an ad for "Wm. D. Kennard & Co. SHIP BROKERS and Commission Merchants, N.E. Cor. Frederick and Pratt Sts. Baltimore." Darcee Rial Yates provided the copy of the ad and says that Wm. would have been approx. 20 years old at the time of this ad. She also states that the "& Co." part of this business name would have been his younger brothers, as the census of 1880 lists them as "Commission Merchants". --------------------------------------------------- 34He is listed in the 1880 Baltimore City, Md. Census as William D. Sep. 1856, 43 yr. old, Married 8 yrs., born in Md. as were parents, Real Estate Agent. --------------------------------------------------- 30Vitals concur with dates and names provided by Wm. C. Rivers, Sr. He is noted in the 1890 Baltimore City Directory as living at his father's residence at 1008 Mosher St. He is listed in the directory as a Clerk. --------------------------------------------------- 20He is listed in the 1910 Baltimore County, Md. Census as William D. Kennard, 53 yrs. of age, M1 indicating his 1st marriage, 18 years married, born in Md. as were his parents, occupation is listed as Practicing Attorney. The family was living on Belvedere Ave. --------------------------------------------------- According to Audrey S.T.Briel Rivers, he had previously owned the land upon which the development of which my childhood home was a part, on Pembroke Ave. in Woodlawn, Md. Wm. D. & Mary Belle lived for a time literally down the street and around the corner on Gwynndale Ave. just three houses from the corner of Virginia Ave. It was a white, three-story Victorian style with a wrap-around porch. This home sat directly across from the Gwynn's Falls stream and where Gwynn Oak Park Amusement Park once stood. ---------------------------------------------------- John Kennard provided the information for the death certificate. I'm not sure if he was overcome with grief at his father's passing or what the situation was, but the personal info. on the certificate is as follows: Father's name: Baltis B. Kennard Mother's Name: Sarah Carson Birthplace: Baltimore, Md. Residence of decedent: 4620 Pall Mall Rd. He's listed as Married to Mary B. Kennard. Occupation: Real Estate Dealer - Self Wm. D. was under the doctor's care from Feb. 25 to March 8, 1936. Cause of death: Cerebral Arterioschlerosis, contributory cause is Cerebral Thrombosis.
