--------------------------------------------------
She died at Edinburgh Castle when news of the death of her husband, Malcolm and her eldest son was reported to her. She was later known and revered as St. Margaret of Scotland. She had fled England with her brother, Edgar Aetheling after the Norman Conquest. She was Malcolm III's 2nd wife.
She was canonised in 1250. In 1057 she arrived at the English court of Edward the Confessor. Ten years later she went into exile after William defeated Harold at the Battle of Hastings. She married Malcolm against her wishes and bore him six sons and two daughters.
Her remains were moved to Escorial Spain and her head Douai, France. |
