Notes for *Malcolm I , King of Scotland |
229Malcolm I (943-54)
Malcolm was the son of Donald II. He may have supported the establishment of a Danish kingdom of York in the 940s, and he harried the north of England. He was killed in battle, possibly at Fetteresso, Kincardineshire by rebels from Moray.

His 2nd cousin, Constantine II named him as successor. He marched with the English to deal with the Scandinavian threat from Ireland. He went on a crusade to take the northern territories from England and upon returning found that his own northern territories had fallen in revolt. He was killed as a result at Fordoun in the Mearns.
