142Ralph, 3rd son of William de Greystoke and Mary or Maria de Merlay, daughter of Roger de Merlay, mentioned above. He was 3rd Lord Greystoke and Baron Greystoke. He was enjoined from attending any illegal or treasonable assemblies, 14th of Edward II, 1321. He was summoned to Parliament, as a baron, at Westminster in three weeks of St. John, the Baptist, as one of the followers of Hugh de Audley, "the son." He obtained a pardon, afterwards revoked, for all felonles, etc., committed in the pursuit of the de le Spencers, 20 August, 15th of Edward III. Ordered to abstain from attending the meeting of the "Good Peers," illegally conveyed by the Earl of Lancaster, to be held at Doncaster on Sunday, 29th Nov., 1322. He was at the battle of Borough Bridge. He was summoned to Parliament at York in the same year, as likewise summoned to the Scottish wars. He was commanded to be ready to march with all the forces he could raise on receiving two days notice. Again summoned to Parliament at Ripon and York 18 Sept., 16th of Edward II, 1323, and again summoned to the Scottish wars, with orders to raise as many men-at-arms as he can over and above his contingent due by tenure. He was afterwards, on account of his sickness, discharged from attending any of the musters for Scottish wars, and died the same year, 1323. In 10th of Edward I, 1282, he paid a fine of 100 marks for license to marry Margery, widow of Nicholas Corbet, and daughter and heir of Hugh de Balbeck, of County Northumberland. He was Governor of Berwick, and Governor of Carlisle, and founded a chantry at Tinemouth, for the soul of John, Lord Greystoke, his brother and all of his ancestors.
