142 p. 916 "He was in ward to his grandmother, Eva de la Rupe, or Roche, who was wife of Ralph the Sheriff 7 Jul 1284 during the reign of Edward I. He had grant of a fair (by this time was of age) in 1295. In 1298 he recieved homage of Henry le Pope and Robt. Palgrun. In 1300 he granted Trederesee to John de Umfraville, his half brother. After his father's death he proved his title to Trenbleth and Lanherne. There seems little doubt but that he married Joan, daughter of John le Sor. The family of Sor show connection with that of FitzHamon, and an earlier one with the House of Montgomery, and a still earlier connection with that of Belesme, the House of Alencon in France. Mont de Sor was a suburb of Alencon." |
