Notes for John Homer DRACH
The August 4, 1899 issue of Baltimore's Sun paper stated, "The 14 year old son of Dr. John H. Drach of Butler, Fifth district, accidentally shot himself through the foot with a cat ri(fl)e yesterday. -------------------------------------------------- 413Their wedding announcement of 19 Jul 1908 in Baltimore's Sun paper read, "Miss Sarah Jean Mullan, of Baltimore, and Mr. J. Homer Drach, of Butler, Baltimore country, were married Thursday, July 9, at Ellicott City, by Rev. Michael A. Ryan, at St. Paul's rectory. After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Drach left for Atlantic City, and are now at the home of the groom's parents, Doctor and Mrs. John H. Drach, Drachenfels. The bride is the daughter of the late Thomas F. Mullan and niece of Rev. W.G. Mullan, of Loyola College. -------------------------------------------------- The 1930 Census for Balto. City, MD shows Homer Drach, head of household. He owned his home which had a value of $5,000. He owned a radio. He was 44 yrs. of age at last birthday. He was 24 yrs. of age when he got married. He could read and write. He and both of his parents were b. in MD. It's difficult to read, but I believe his occupation is listed as Manager of a Fertilizer Plant. It looks as though the census taker crossed the "l" rather than the "t". He was not a military veteran. His wife Sarah is listed as "Jean Drach". ------------------------------------------------- 282His Obituary appeared in the Baltimore Sun on 12 Dec 1963.
