460John came to America from England with his maternal grandfather, Rev. Stephen Bachiler. They sailed on the ship "William and Francis" which set sail from London on March 9th and arrived June 5th in 1632 with 60 passengers in all.
79He was a Selectman in 1650, 1661, 1665, 1668, 1672, 1674-75 and 1678-79. He was called Ensign in Oct. of 1665 and legally chosen and confirmed Ensign a year later. He was commissioned Lieutenant on 15 Oct. 1679.
82[ chap.13, part 3] He served in King William's War (1689-1698) against the native Indians.
82 [chap.13, part 1] In June of 1677 He served in King Philip's War against the Indians in the Hampton area. He was one of the signers of a petition asking Major General Denison if possible, for thirty men from Newbury to help fight the Indians. He signed this petition as Ensign John Sanborn with Deputy Thos. Marston and three other officers.
