Kelley died at his home on east Linn street, Bellefonte, on Wednesday of last week, as the result of a stroke of paralysis sustained several days previous. A son of Patrick and Sarah Flack Kelley he was born at Howard on February 5, 1856, making his age 78 years and 7 months. He was educated in the public schools of Howard and when twenty-two years old went to Moline, Ill., and worked two years in the plow factory of John Deere, when he was called home owing to the death of his brother. He worked in the coal mines, in Snow Shoe township from 1881 to 1889, when he became associated with the firm of Tobin and Kelley. The following year he purchased Mr. Tobin's interest and the firm of Kelley Bros. was organized. In 1895 the company was re-organized as the Snow Shoe Mining company, with which he had been connected ever since. In 1882 he married Miss Rose Mosebarger and they had eight children, seven of whom are living, as follows: John J. Kelley of Hanover, Logan M. of Snow Shoe; Thomas F. of Williamsport; Mrs. William G. Knapper, of Philipsburg; Mrs. F. J. Vogt of Lock Haven; George A., of Bellefont, and Victor, of Rochester, N.Y. Mrs. Kelley died in 1918 and a year later the family moved to Bellefonte from Snow Shoe. In 1919 Mr. Kelley married Mrs. Catherine Rosenhoover Raymond who died in 1926 leaving three children, Ann, Patricia and Harry P. Jr. Funeral mass was held in St. John's Catholic church, at 10 o'clock on Saturday morning, by the Rev. W. E. Downes, after which the remains were taken to Snow Shoe for burial in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery.
