I'm not sure if this Lamotte is closely related with our Carroll County, Md Lamottes or not, but looking at his military record from the Civil War which shows his good service to our nation, his record should be noted. The record below was found on Ancestry -------------------------------------------------- 421Charles Eugene La Motte, A.B., A.M., Wilmington, De. ... Son of Daniel and Anna Potts (Smith) Lammot. he took a prepartory course of studies at the Oxford (Md.) Military Academy, and in 1855 entered the Sophomore Class at the University of Pennsylvania, from which he was granduated in 1858, and studied law under Hon. Edward G. Bradford, of Wilminton, Del. Was admitted to the bar of the State of Delaware in 1861 with his uniform on, being then a Captain in the service of the United States. At the outbreak of the war he raised and commanded Company B in the First Regiment of Delaware Volunteers. ... Her served on the staff of General Ayers, Second Division, Fifth Army Corps, to the end of the war. Member of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States.
