23 July 1855 Widow's Claim Sarah T. Carson

On this 23rd day July 1855 A.D., before me, one of the Justices of the Peace, in and for the City _____________ and State _____________ aforesaid, personally appears Sarah T. Carson aged 62 years, a resident of said City _____________ and State of Maryland who being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow David Carson deceased, who was a Private in Company commanded by Captain Peters in the 51 regiment of Maryland Militia commanded by Colonel H. Amey in the war with Great Britain declared by the United States on the 18th day of June, 1812, that her said husband volunteered? at Baltimore on or about the 18 day of August 1816 for the term of sd?(Said?)War and continued in actual service in said war for the term of 3 months and was honorably discharged at Baltimore on or about the 19 day of November 1814.
She further states that she was married to the said David Carson in Baltimore City on the 30 day of October 1815 by one Mr. Hunt a Clergyman, and that her name before her said marriage was S. Hinson, that her said husband died at Baltimore City on the 7 day of January 1852 and that she is still a widow. She has no Record of Marriage, private or public, nor can she obtain any from Court, and refers to the evidence below to establish the same.
She further declares that she (word has was struck-out and word inserted was) had? heretofore made application for Bounty Land under the Act approved the 28th September, 1850 and obtained a Warrant for 40 acres, No. 33711 which she (struck-out were the words legally disposed of and it cannot be returned, and the following words written in) herewith Returns & asks a Warrant for 160 acres. S he makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the Bounty Land to which she may be entitled under the Act approved March 3d, 1855.

We David Carson Jr. and Robt Hays residents of Baltimore City upon our oaths, declare that the foregoing declaration was signed and acknowledged by Sarah T. Carson in our presence, and that we believe from the appearance and statement of the applicant that she is the person she represents herself to be. And we further declare that we well knew David Carson in his lifetime, and Sarah T. Carson at the same time, that they lived together as husband and wife, and was so regarded by all that knew them and that the said David Carson died at Baltimore City on or about the 7 day of January 1852 and that she, the said applicant, is still a widow, and they are disinterested witnesses.

Among the papers that John sent, was a paper containing cursive writing. On it is the number of the Land Warrant that was granted to Sarah, and what I believe is the name of that parcel of land, "Mo Acres".
