Baltis H. Kennard's Immediate Family
Among Baltis' Family Register papers, were papers he entitled "Immediate Family". You can click on the scanned graphics to view them as he drew them. I use the word "draw" because there's artwork that surrounds wording on the pages. While looking at his memoirs, I wasn't sure whether he was simply adding text to a book that was filled with artwork, much like some of the hardbound genealogy books are today, where you can add your family data.
Karen Kidd sent me another large manuscript from Baltis that centered around the family lands, lease and such. These papers written by Baltis had the very same type of artwork on them, leading me to the conclusion that he loved to draw as well as write. This is what prompts me to scan the images for you to see them in their original form. I'm not sure how legible they'll be, but you'll certainly be able to appreciate them. If you save them to your computer, you will be downloading them in their full size.

Doc. 1 :
Immediate Family of Baltis H. Kennard, in two parts,
he being twice married.
Born
1st Part.
Baltis H. Kennard, first born child, and oldest Son of William H. and Louisa Kennard was born in Baltimore City, Md., on the Fifteeth 15th day of January, A.D. 1827. Baptized by the Rev'd. John Jacob Tschudy of South Carolina, the parents being sponsors at Baltimore City, Md. Note. The Rev'd. Mr. Tschudy was of the Protestant Episcopal Church and an Uncle of Louisa Kennard, and was on a visit at Baltimore when the above named Rite of Baptism was administered.
After Baltis H. Kennard became a youth, circumstances brought him into association with the Baptist Church and he became a member of the same. He was immersed by the Rev'd. John McKean at Carroll's Shore - Spring Gardens, during the Summer. That shore has been filled up. It was a grand bathing place, and many a time had I swam there. Sometime after this event circumstances carried me back to the Methodist E. Church, and there I have remained for substantially a life time. I do not regret my brief connection with the Baptist Church. They were fine people. One feature of their faith still adheres to me relative to Infant Baptism.

Anna R. Kennard wife of Baltis H. Kennard, in the city of Baltimore, on the thirtieth, day of March, 1890 aged 64.
(Buried in Carson Lot - Western Cemetery)
She was the mother of Seven Children; four sons and three daughters. Four sons and one daughter, all grown, survived her. She was cheerful and hopeful in disposition and heroic in character, but which bore alike with the same even temperment the sorrows and joys of life. Thus when the great Call came, the measure of her life's duties were full and complete, and she was ready for the Heavenly Messengers with her Soul, and an account of her stewardship in her journey to the home of the blest "When hope in full fruition dies". She was a noble woman, a sincere friend, a true and devoted wife, a tender and loving mother, and a dutiful daughter. As husband and wife, we sojourned together over 35 years. No tribute that duty or love could bestow to the life and memory of this Lovely Woman would be more than deserved. Written nearly 12 years after her death.
Following these words, Baltis pasted copies of her obit from the Baltimore Sun and Baltimore American News newspapers. I enlarged this portion of the graphic to make it easier to read. You can view it full size in your graphics application.
