142Baron Clifford, of Westmoreland, 2nd son of Robert and Isabel de Berkeley, succeeded his brother Robert. He was one of the wardens of the Scotch Marches, as several of his progenitors had been before him. He was a man of much gallantry and valour, and often in the wars of French and Scotch; a lover of building, and took great care to repair his ancient castles, the seats of his ancestors. He married Maud, daughter of Thomas de Beauchamp, 3rd Earl of Warwick, and died 13 July, 1390. He was summoned to Parliament from 31st of Edward III, 1357, to 12th of Richard II, 1389. He had three sons, Thomas, William and Lewis, and four daughters.
