Grandson, David Carson Kleinberg, M.D. states, "My grandfather, Hyman, came to this country from his home in Galacia. I was told by my aunt that he had decided not to participate in the first world war as a conscript. He sought his fortune in the United States. At one time, he was the head waiter at a restaurant called Lindy's in New York City. Unfortunately, my grandfather was taken to gambling and at some point during his life he owned several race horses. My grandfather did not become wealthy as he had planned, as a result of his gambling. This translated into financial difficulties for my father's family during his early life." |
