William's son, David Carson Kleinberg states, " My father, William, was the oldest of five children born to Hyman and Regina Kleinberg in New York City. He graduated from high school which was difficult at best during those years. He apparently held numerous jobs during his early life, but after he met my mother he continued to work for the Social Security Administration until he retired in 1972.
"My father was not permitted to join the military during the second World War because he only had vision in one eye. This was something my father always regretted. He was born with congenital cataracts and the surgical attempt to remove one was an abysmal failure. My father was also very short of stature and it was believed at that time that this was caused by his being born prematurely. It is interesting to note that my own daughter, Rebecca was premature and born with congenital cataracts. Unfortunately, because of the unusual degree of prematurity, she was born at the age of 24 weeks and suffered numerous neonatal complications, although short stature was not a prominent one." |
