426In the 1930 census for New Windsor, Md. he is shown to be 66 yrs. of age, married and 23 yrs. when first married. His wife, Flora and daughter Bertha are living in his home. Bertha is single, and time reveals that she never married. He was the proprietor of the Gen'l. Store. He also had a salesman who worked in his store living with him by the name of Linwood DOUDY who was age 14. Additionally, he had a man and woman living with him named Joseph Smith and Eliz. Hollingsworth. Both had the occupation "Servant". He owned a radio and a home that held a value of $6,300.00. He lived at 266 Linwood-Priestland Road in New Windsor, Md.

282His Obituary Notice appeared in the Baltimore Sun on 18 May 1934 and stated: John Elwood Drach, well-known and highly esteemed resident of Linwood, died very suddenly at his home in that community Wednesday evening, May 16, 1934 at 8:30 o'clock, two hours after he had been stricken with cerebral hemorrhage. He was aged 70 years, 10 months and one day.
For many years he had been engaged in flour and feed milling at Englar's Mill near New Windsor, and later purchased the general merchandise business of the late Nathan Englar which he conducted for a period of fifteen years. He was a member of the Linwood Brethren church and was affiliated with the Democratic party in politics but never aspired to public office. He was a son of the late Peter and Mary Ellen Drach of Carroll County and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Flora May Drach, one daughter, Bertha, at home, and one son, Raymond, Bethlehem, PA; also a brother, Isaac W. Drach, Star City, Ind; a sister Mrs. Ella Franklin, Dennings, and a grandchild, Emily May Drach, Bethelhem.
The funeral will take place from the late home Saturday at 1:30 o'clock with further services at 2 p.m. in the Linwood Brethren church and interment in Pipe Creek cemetery. The Rev. J.L. Bowman, his pastor, will officiate. The following deacons of the Linwood Brethren church will serve as pallbearers: Samuel W. Dayhoff, William Zepp, Ernest Blacksten, Dr. J.H. Messler, Claude Etzler and Charles Messler.
